There are a number of environmental factors that affect the likelihood and severity of an asthma attack, including pollen, air quality, weather conditions and changes in the weather. AccuWeather’s Asthma Index accounts for these factors and how they affect asthmatics, with higher numbers indicating an increased risk for an asthma attack and an increased likelihood of a more severe attack, although individual asthma sufferers can differ in their susceptibility to these various factors.
